Please join us for a FREE one day training. Lunch will be provided.

The morning session will cover: SPF-Rx Presentation: Prescription Drug Abuse Understanding Addiction as Chronic Brain Disease. Dr. Raj Masih

Objectives:

1. Create understanding of the Disease Model of addiction,

2. Generate knowledge regarding newer imaging modalities and how they are utilized in studying addiction including SPECT, PET, and f-MRI.

3. Understand the neurophysiology of addiction through the lens of a chronic relapsing medical disease.

4. Understand the Neurophysiology of cravings.

5. Understand the neurophysiology of Relapse.

6. Understand the salient parallels between substance use disorder and other chronic lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and coronary artery disease.

7. Understand the importance of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in Substance Use Disorder.

8. Understand the role of diet in potentiating recovery from substance use disorder.

9. Understand the role of physical activity and exercise in potentiating recovery from substance use disorder.

10. Understanding the Stigma of Substance Use Disorder and how it impacts treatment and recovery, and how it can be mitigated.

Beyond ACES: Understanding Trauma-Informed Care, Kathy F. Szafran, MA, LPC, ALPS

1. Participants will learn about Adverse Childhood Experiences and the ACE survey. They will gain an understanding of how individuals with higher scores are more at risk for lifelong health issues.

2. Participants will gain an understanding of the different types of trauma and how they impact child development and adult life.

3. Participants will have an increased understanding of the effect of developmental trauma on the brain and early brain development.

4. Participants will learn what trauma informed care looks like in relationship to residential care, home based care, and school based care.

5. Participants will review attachment theory and how it interfaces with developmental trauma/complex trauma and neurobiology in the practice of trauma-informed care.

6. Participants with be able to identify trauma informed environments vs. non- trauma informed environments.

7. Participants will learn about the ARC blocks of the Attachment, Self-regulation and Competency (ARC) framework.

8. Participants will explore regulation tools and how to develop these with their clients.
