A Playback Theatre show inviting the audience to share experiences of individual and collective resilience
About this event
Resilience is essential to our survival and well-being. When have you practiced resilience, and from whom did you learn the skills that helped you get through difficult times?
We all encounter hardship. However persistent struggles have been endured by many groups of people their entire lives. While we commonly think of resilience as an individual act, it can also be seen in the context of groups or even cultural movements. Witness the eruption of global support for Black Lives Matter or health workers on the front line: resilience is compounded and amplified as people support and encourage one another.
During tumultuous times, like the ones we face today, it's easy to forget the skills we've learned or the history of survivorship we inherited.
Re-Membering Resilience is an invitation to recall those moments when we've made it through to the other side. It is also an invitation to "member" ourselves to our community and our ancestors' legacy, whose sacrifice and practice have brought us to where we are today.
At this performance, we invite audience members to share their experiences of resilience, individual, group, or cultural acts, moments when strength was lacking, and times when others have contributed to overcoming challenges.
