Re-inventing and Building a Business for
Greater Customer Value and Financial Growth"

Guest Presenter:

Brian Williams
CEO
AIP Aerospace

Brian will cover the transformation of Ascent Aerospace from a U.S.-focused tooling-only business (short backlog/capital intensive) into a global provider of integration systems and automated products (long backlog/less capital) with highly differentiated tooling capabilities that advantage the integration business.  The discussion will focus on the development and communication of strategic intent, organizational 'make vs. buy' considerations, the financial and strategic evaluation of acquisition targets, and the integration of heritage and newly acquired businesses.

Guest Presenter

As CEO of AIP Aerospace since 2013, Brian Williams oversaw the strategic positioning and operational transformation of a high-temperature composites business that achieved extremely high margins and more than 5 years' backlog growth on sole-sourced programs.  He also led a group of U.S.-focused tooling companies out of bankruptcy, re-branded them as Ascent Aerospace, and transformed them into a global integrator of automation systems with highly differentiated tooling capabilities.  Today Ascent is one of only three global players of scale who can provide a full suite of integration and automation, but with vertical, smart tooling capability.

Previously Brian was the President of Arrowhead Products, where he was instrumental in growing the company by 65% and leading a strategic shift from individual ducting components to complete aircraft air management systems.  He also led the team that won the fuel system contract for NASA's Space Launch System (SLS).  Prior to Arrowhead, Brian spent more than 20 years at The Boeing Company (formerly Hughes Aircraft) as a Director of product lines in the satellite communications field, including bus and payload electronics, microwave amplifiers (LTWTAs), ion propulsion, and space batteries.  He won the Chairman's Award for leading technology and product development efforts that established new industry benchmarks and pioneered cellular manufacturing.

Brian holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Brigham Young University.
