Community discussion sessions will be held via Zoom, a free video conferencing application. Albuquerque Community Safety Department

Facilitated Input Session

Background:

The intent of creating the Albuquerque Community Safety Department (ACS) is to provide 9-1-1 dispatch an option to send ACS responders to a community safety call alone or alongside other first responders from the police or fire departments.

ACS responders will be a trained professionals such as social workers, housing and homelessness specialists, violence prevention, or diversion program experts.

Purpose:

The City of Albuquerque is inviting Community Based Organizations to share their expertise that will help inform the development of the ACS policies and procedures, culture, and how it collaborates with community and other institutions. Additionally, we want to better understand when it is appropriate for the City to dispatch an ACS first responder alone or with a police officer.

Expectations:

We’ll send you the background information prior to the event via email to make sure you have what you need to come ready to dive in!

Please plan to sign into the Zoom a few minutes early to make sure the technology works and help us get started on time. To keep the group focused and productive, please plan to stay for the full two-hour session—or sign up for a later session when you will be able to.

Being able to see each other’s faces is so important to good conversation, so please plan to turn your camera on when you join. It will also help if we all keep background noise to a minimum, so don’t forget to set up in a quiet space.

Interpretation Support:

If there is need for interpretation in Spanish or ASL please email acs@cabq.gov 72 hours prior to the event so we can make accommodations.

Survey:

You can also have input on the shape of this groundbreaking new department through our ACS survey. There is lots of space for additional comments
