Event description

Description

"In a global economy driven by rapid technological change, creativity at every level is fundamental... we need to be radically creative." Robert Poynton, Founder, On Your Feet.

The world is uncertain and precarious and now, more than ever, the world needs each of us to make our creative contribution to help shape better lives.

This workshop is designed to engage and sharpen your creativity, to help you know what blocks it, what supports it and what others can bring to it.

When the going is tough, it's tempting to close down our creativity in favour of working harder and faster to deliver tasks and make ends meet. But we do so at our peril. We can use this uniquely human resource to work smarter, with increased innovation, inspiration and greater sustainability. It’s a muscle we can build to add vitality and impact to what we want to achieve in the world.

"Creativity is the new literacy" says Sir Ken Robinson, Professor of Education at Warwick University. It is that important.

“A thoughtful, well-paced, intriguing and energising experience. I have come away with heart, energy, strategies and even a new network” Elly Hargreave, Charity Director

Workshop Overview

Blending our many years’ experience in the arts and creative sectors with findings from creative pioneers/ thought leaders we have evolved a simple model, Creative Dynamics, which invites you to engage with your creativity as a dynamic cycle.

It starts with you What is my relationship with creativity? Where are your creative strengths and blocks?

What does this mean in practice?…..Relate this to your own experience of a project or issue you are working on. How could your peers support you?

How can I support myself and others?…… Explore the types of approaches and mindsets which can support and enable creativity and help overcome blocks

What will I change? …… Develop a plan for how you will put your insights into action

".... [the model] helped me celebrate my strengths - and shed new light and different light on 'weak' " Moyra Scott, Artist

Who’s it for?

Aimed at anyone who wants to deepen their understanding and make more of their creativity and support others to do the same. A great skill set for artists and creative makers/producers in understanding their own creativity, and ideal for coaches, facilitators, practitioners working with individuals and teams seeking refreshing approaches to idea creation, overcoming challenges and decision making.

Lisa & Emma showed the group playful and easy to understand techniques … They have shown me how to refine and improve a skill that is already helping me in my professional and personal life.” Melanie Smith, of We are Story

What can I expect to come away with?

  • Increased creative confidence and resilience; a clearer understanding of your own creative strengths, preferences and challenges

  • A simple model and framework you can use personally to bring insight and new perspectives on creativity and/or as a coaching tool with others (in 1:1 and group contexts).

  • A deeper understanding of the power of peer support and diverse minds in supporting your ideas and creativity

  • Fresh perspectives, learning, actions and next steps to make a difference to a creative project or idea of your own, to implement immediately.

“I feel much more confident in my understanding of creativity in general and my creative strengths” Alison Rendle, Coach and facilitator

Further information

What’s different about this workshop?

Our experience shows that our relationship with creativity can be improved by working with others; in all kinds of ways. This is critical to our work in helping ourselves and others bring creative resource to the forefront of our work. So, a collaborative process sits at the heart of this workshop.

Where does it come from?

Creative Dynamics is rooted in the Gestalt cycle of experience (sometimes ‘cycle of awareness’) and supported by research in other theories and stories around creativity and the creative process, neuroscience and other knowledge we hold from coaching training.
