Raving 4 Ricky 'London Edition'
The Leisure Centre and Retox Sound System bring you part 2 in the fundraisers for our family member Ricky Retox!
He was hit by a motorcycle while away fitness training and finding food sources in Thailand, sadly his insurance ran out the day before and was due to come home the day after. Medical bills have been in excess of £100,000 and he's still needing medical attention due to the 9 fractures on his skull and a bleed on the brain.
In true fashion, we bring you the finest selection of beats and bass, all genres covered from start to finish.
Line up
Jacky Murda (Chopstick Dubplate)
An original King of dubplate culture in Jungle music, his label has been tearing up dances outernationally since 1998! Chopstick Dubplate kickstarted the ragga-jungle revival with a new formula: recording foundation Jamaican vocalists on jungle versions of classic reggae riddims, which eventually became the blueprint followed by the modern ragga-jungle community.
whodat (Hyperactive Breakbeat)
A new unheard collaboration between K_Whut and Haslem. 2 artists pre-occupied with basslines, breakbeats and soundsystem culture! Finally after 20 years of B2B mix sessions, they got in the studio and starting producing tunes. Backing it up with a new label for them to express themselves for the world to hear, bringing you the finest in hyperactive breakbeat at 160bpm
Clifford Junior (Reggae Roast)
A member of the Reggae Roast soundsystem, London-based reggae and dub collective. He's a producer/DJ known for his unreleased works and collaborations with the Reggae Roast family
Stu Barr (Leisure Centre)
What can be said!? A Scotsman, non stop DJ, dance floor killer! Upfront Jungle/DnB pushing your dance moves to new levels
Jim2 (Armada Soundsystem/Leisure Centre)
Wanna talk breaks! With one of the tightest mixing skills ever seen, Jim2 pulls every aspect of broken beat music and compiles it into one fluid sound. From Big Beat, Breaks, Electro to Oldskool. He brings the pumpers!
Tumble (Retox Soundsystem/Leisure Centre)
The O.D (Original Don) of Retox soundsystem! Tumble grew into his sound by large speakers generating mass amounts of bass. There's no tiptoeing around when he gets on the decks. Hard bangers ranging from UK Funky, Garage and Grime. He knows how to make the gyaldem whine!
