Event description

Description

Acclaimed pianist Hélène Tysman and the ensemble les Percussions Claviers de Lyon will interpret a selection of compositions by Maurice Ravel - Rapsodie Espagnole (1907), Gaspard de la Nuit (1908) and Concerto in G major (1932), along with Rhapsody in Blue (1924) by George Gershwin. All of the pieces were first created during Ravel's "crazy tour" of North America in 1928, a trip during which he met George Gershwin. Ravel's classical music is here notably influenced by American jazz rhythms.

Hélène Tysman is a renowned pianist, winner of the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. She has played internationally and recently diversified her work, collaborating with a variety of artists.

Les Percussions Claviers de Lyon bring together marimbas, vibraphones and xylophones, creating original rhythmic music as well as interpreting classics by Debussy, Ravel, and Bernstein.
