Raspberry Pi Birthday Jam for Middle School & High School Students

We are proud to participate in the Raspberry PI Birthday Weekend Jam Events. This event is led by our SRVEF Imagineering team with the support of our wonderful community sponsors. Our goal is to provide a platform for students to gain the technical expertise needed to thrive in the highly competitive global environment. Getting comfortable with coding and ability to work in functional teams are two major skills we intend to promote along with rewarding technical literacy skills and creativity.

The Raspberry Pi is a powerful, yet inexpensive, micro-computer that is the perfect tool for an introduction to hardware and physical computing. At this event, we will work hands-on with various sensors, LEDs, and other components, and use programming to control our circuits. This event will challenge students to learn more about the Raspberry Pi, and will give students an opportunity to show how versatile and powerful it can be. We will focus on digital making projects and challenges in order to expose students to this growing field in computer science.

This event is being organized by Kim Carter, Teacher Librarian at Los Cerros Middle School, and our SRVEF Imagineering Team.

4:30pm-5:00pm Welcome & Introduction

5:00pm -6:00pm Jam/Hack/Share

6:00pm-6:30pm Pizza Party

6:30pm-7:45pm Jam/Hack/Share

7:45pm-8:00pm Birthday Cake and Goodbyes

Event Location:

San Ramon Valley High School Library

Ages:

Open to all middle school and high school students, and all skill levels.

Event Cost:

The event cost is $25 for all participants and this includes food.

Scholarships: If you need financial assistance, we have full scholarships available for this event. Please email cecilia@srvef.org.

No refunds. There will be no refunds for this event. If you cannot attend, you can email us to transfer the ticket to another attendee, or we can add it to our scholarship pool.
