Description

Rasa is an innovative India-themed multi-arts festival, produced by Akshara, and held annually in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti in September. It is designed to promote a deeper awareness and appreciation for the effulgent richness and abundance of cultural heritage that stems from India.

The Rasa Dance Festival is an exciting Indian dance festival, featuring traditional classical as well as innovative new works. Artists include well known Michigan-based dancers, and invited artists from other cities in the US and India.

Day 1: Saturday, September 23, 2017, 7pm

  • "Kali-Krishna: two sides of darkness" in Odissi: Sreyashi Dey with Akshara (Ann Arbor, Washington, DC)

  • "Untitled" in contemporary style: Bipasha Guptaroy (Troy)

  • "Find Metiabruz" in Kathak: Pallabi Chakraborty with Courtyard Dancers (Philadelphia)

Day 2: Sunday, September 24, 2017, 3pm

  • "Vishala: Expanse" in Bharatanatyam: Vijay Palaparty & Nalini Prakash (Washington, DC)

  • "PanchaChitra" dance theater: Sreyashi Dey with Akshara (Ann Arbor)

  • "Dancing the Divine" in Sattriya: Madhusmita Bora and Prerona Bhuyan (Philadelphia, India)
