RARE BOOKS LA - SANTA MONICA

Rare Books LA welcomes you back to in-person book fairs with the upcoming show Rare Books LA - Santa Monica. This exciting event is being held in a beautiful retail storefront on the Third Street Promenade, a prime retail and dining destination just a few blocks from the beach and the world famous Santa Monica Pier.

Rare booksellers from throughout the United States are anxious to safely reconnect with the rare book community and share their love for rare books, unique first editions, maps, ephemera, fine bindings, illustrations and more.

Opening night tickets benefit the LAist, a non-profit organization that relies on financial support from the community to power its journalism. The LAist newsroom is also home to L.A.'s most-listened-to NPR affiliate, 89.3 KPCC.

SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Starting August 20, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health requires all guests 2 years of age or older wear masks at all times when not actively eating or drinking. Please wear a mask to the event and on all public transit.

Wear a mask with two or more layers. Wear the mask over your nose and mouth and under your chin. The following are prohibited: masks with exhalation valves; masks made of loosely woven fabrics; scarves, buffs, bandanas, gaiters, and face shields alone (inadequate protection). Masks will be available upon request.

Rare Books LA meets the definition of a large event (more than 1,000 attendees) and must meet all state and local health requirements.

In addition, full vaccination OR a negative test result within the past 24 hours is required for exhibitors, staff, trades, and attendees as a condition of entry to the event.

Individuals must provide documentation (self-attestation is not acceptable).

In conjunction with the in-person book fair, Rare Books LA is hosting a concurrent virtual book fair that kicks off Thursday, September 30 and runs for the duration of the in-person fair. This online event also features exhibitors from the Miniature Book Society.

Our exhibitors and the entire Rare Books LA team, and all our subcontractors are vaccinated

We are requiring all visitors to Rare Books LA to be vaccinated or show proof of a negative Covid test within the past 24 hours

We have limited Rare Books LA – Santa Monica to 35 exhibitors to ensure adequate opportunity for social distancing

We are issuing timed tickets to limit capacity, and we will control entry at the front door

Los Angeles County has an indoor mask mandate, therefore our team, all exhibitors and guests will be required to wear a mask while inside at the book fair. We are supplying masks to exhibitors and customers who may need them

We are implementing disinfecting protocols in all public areas and posting hand sanitations stations in each of the galleries

We are staying informed of and implementing the latest best practices
