2018 Rapid Re-Housing Institute – CoC, ESG

Miami, Florida

October 2 - October 3, 2018

Continuums of Care (CoCs), Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) recipients and subrecipients, and CoC recipients –

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), with the support of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness and other national partners, is pleased to open registration for the second annual Rapid Re-Housing (RRH) Institutes. These events are specifically targeted to RRH managers, practitioners and crisis response system planners. This is HUD-approved training. This means, while there is no registration fee for this training, the costs associated with travel and staff time to attend are approved CoC and ESG Program costs. However, space will be limited as discussed below.

The VA, in close partnership with its partners and technical assistance partners, are currently planning the two Rapid Rehousing Institutes for the fall of 2018 (both events will be identical in content). These events will bring together RRH practitioners and planners from around the country for an intensive, 1.5 day long training/conference focused on various topics and creative solutions to rapid rehousing and rapid resolution practices – please see the attached draft agenda and session learning objectives for the event to help guide who should attend.

This year, VA is working to offer Continuing Education credits for event participants. If you are interested in obtaining CE credits from this event, please select during registration.

Due to space limitations, there will be a limit to the number of individual attendees per Continuum of Care. Most CoCs will be limited to up to 3 participants (including any ESG recipients or subrecipients interested in attending), while CoCs with Annual Renewal Demand amounts over $30 million will be able to send up to 8 participants. Slots will be provided on a first come first serve basis and there are only 200 slots per institute. Once registration opens act fast to ensure your CoC will be represented. SSVF Grantees do NOT contribute toward your overall CoC cap; VA will communicate with SSVF grantees about the number of participants they can send to each event.

CoC and ESG recipients must coordinate and work with their RRH providers to identify whether there are programs/staff interested in attending these events. A preliminary agenda is attached to this email.

(you will select your location during the Registration process)

  • East Coast Rapid Rehousing Institute: October 2 - October 3, 2018 (Miami, FL)
  • West Coast Rapid Rehousing Institute: October 16 - October 17, 2018 (San Diego, CA)

This event is being sponsored by the VA, with support from HUD and USICH, and the primary SSVF TA partners.

Once you register, you'll receive a generic confirmation email.  Registrations received before midnight each day will receive an official confirmation with accommodation and travel details within 24 hours after registration.  Please DO NOT book flights or accommodations until you receive the official confirmation email.  If you do not receive the confirmation email within the 24 hour period, please contact the RRHI planning team at

We look forward to seeing you at the event.
