Description

Random House is excited to announce the launch of a new event series, Random House Reader’s Circle Live!

Our debut RHRC Live! event will be held at our flagship office in New York City on Tuesday, June 6 and will feature acclaimed novelist Anna Quindlen and her New York Times bestseller, MILLER’S VALLEY.

Join Random House Reader’s Circle Live! for the opportunity to meet with other book-lovers and discuss MILLER’S VALLEY. Like every great book club gathering, wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served as guests break out into small groups for discussions led by Random House staff. After the conversation, Anna will join the group to share her thoughts about the novel, her writing process and how she strives to capture the lives of women and convey what truly matters to them in her fiction.

The $35 ticket price includes an early trade paperback copy of MILLER’S VALLEY. The book will be delivered to your door prior to the event so as to allow ample time to read before the event.

Random House Reader’s Circle Live! series—held at the publisher’s flagship offices in Manhattan—is a chance for readers to come together and discuss a novel provided by Random House. About Our Pick
MILLER’S VALLEY, Anna Quindlen’s eighth novel, is her provocative, illuminating novel of one woman who has had to leave home to find herself. Mimi Miller’s family has lived in Miller’s Valley for generations. As she grows up among the farmland and open hills of rural Pennsylvania, Mimi eavesdrops on her parents and observes the secrets of the people around her, realizing that her family, their friends, their town and way of life—everything is on the verge of enormous change. But what changes most is Mimi herself.

With the voice of her mother always running through her head, Mimi navigates the toxicity of family secrets, the danger of gossip, the flaws of marriage, the inequality of friendship, and the risks of passion, loyalty and love —and, most of all, the gradual discovery of an ambition that will take her far from the town that is an essential part of who she is. In her powerful novel, Quindlen explores how mothers and daughters influence each other in ways they themselves might never really comprehend, and how “no one ever leaves the town where they grew up, even if they go.”
