Event Details

The Ralph Grant Institute (RGI) is a continuing professional education conference originally established in the Bay area over 25 years ago by Ralph Grant, CPA, founding partner of Grant & Smith LLP.  Through Ralph's leadership the Division of Firms (DOF), of which his firm was a member, was able to replicate the original conference so that it now runs concurrently in three other cities, Chicago, Detroit and Washington DC.  The conference typically lasts between 2 and 2 1/2 days during the week of Thanksgiving.  2016 marks the 11th anniversary for the conference taking place in Chicago.  The RGI-Chicago conference features the following lineup of CPE sessions:

Monday, November 21st

Financial Statements of Not-for-Profit Entities (AUS 2016-14) (2hrs CPE - GAS A&A)

The “Green Book” and Its Role in Single Audits (2hrs CPE - GAS A&A)

Supercircular Implementation:  A Case Study (2hrs CPE - GAS A&A)

“Municipalities in Danger” – Statement No. 58, Accounting and Financial Reporting for Chapter 9 Bankruptcies (2hrs CPE - GAS A&A)

Tuesday, November 22nd

FASB Update (2hrs CPE - A&A)

Leases (AUS 2016-02) (2hrs CPE - A&A)

GASB Update: Standards No. 78-82 (2hrs CPE - A&A)

Practice Continuation (2hrs CPE - Practice Management)

Fees:    NABA individual members and DOF firm members - $150 per day

             Nonmembers - $200 per day

Firms registering multiple people will be invoiced directly for all confirmed registrants via a main contact.  Individual registrants will be invoiced directly.


Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

All attendees will need to provide a photo ID to the security desk in order to enter the building for the conference.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

There are nearby CTA stops for those taking public transportation.  There are several parking lots within a short walking distance of the conference location.  To search for parking options you can search via the following link  There is also street parking on South Jefferson Ave.

What should I bring to the event?

Conference materials will be provided via online portal for those who have registered in advance. We strongly recommend that attendees bring a laptop, tablet or smart phone in order to access the materials during the sessions.  Hard copies of the material will NOT be provided.
