Event description

Description

Join us on Wednesday 4 March for an evening of Japanese comedy with master storyteller Kanariya Eiraku. Rakugo comic monologues have a long history in Japan, and have grown in popularity in recent years.

This special workshop will include an introduction to rakugo and give you the opportunity to learn rakugo storytelling skills. Learn how to conjure up a complete world and cast of characters with just a few simple props, and practise your technique in telling simple stories and jokes.

Workshop participants are asked to bring a (hand) fan and a tenugui (or hand towel) if they have those items handy.

Your workshop fee also includes complimentary admission to Eiraku-shishō’s rakugo performance – in English – on Thursday 5 March. (Your workshop ticket is also your show ticket.) Find out more about the show: http://bit.ly/2S4qliD.

Learn more about Rakugo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rakugo.

(Workshop fee includes GST and ticketing service charges.)
