Raising Resilient Adolescents in a Stressful World

Join Dr. John Grych, clinical psychologist, Marquette University professor, and father, as he explores the topic of resilience and adolescent development in the 21st Century.

  • What does a resilient adolescent look like?
  • What promotes resilience in adolescents?
  • How can parents help their teens successfully navigate the stresses of adolescence?

In this presentation, Dr. Grych will draw on current psychological research, clinical practice, and the experience of parenting two teenagers to discuss the challenges of raising healthy and happy adolescents.

About the Speaker:

John Grych, PhD, is Professor of Psychology at Marquette University. He has conducted research on children and families for 25 years and published more than 60 scientific articles, including “The Resilience Portfolio Model: Understanding Healthy Adaptation in Victims of Violence” (2015), and two books. Dr. Grych also is a licensed clinical psychologist with experience counseling youths and families and training doctoral students in the Clinical Psychology graduate program at Marquette. He holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Illinois and is a Fellow in the Association for Psychological Science. He and his wife are the parents of a 20 and a 24 year old.
