Event description
8th annual fundraiser recognizing ESOL leadership in Businesses and the Community

About this event

Raising Our Voices is the premier ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) recognition event in Massachusetts. The event shines a light on the imperative for English language learning opportunities, and the business and individuals who are supporting them.

Since 2014, eighty-five prominent businesses have been recipients of our English Works Certificate of Recognition for their continued support of English learning opportunities for immigrant workers. CEOs and their front-line immigrant employees often attend the event together, celebrating with other community, labor and elected leaders. In addition, ESOL students are honored for their tenacity and for their outstanding performance while completing ESOL courses. Proceeds from Raising our Voices will help immigrants enter the workforce with better English skills to pursue their dreams.

Raising our Voices 2021 will be a live program, broadcast virtually for viewers. Hosted by WCVB Anchor Nathalie Pozo, the event will feature a guest speaker, entertainment, student testimony and a new "English Works Unsung Hero Award," selected by ENB’s English Works Business Council members, as well as the recurring Agent of Change, and Rising Star Student Awards.

We hope that our event will bring together leaders from the private and public sector in order to celebrate immigrant contributions to the Massachusetts workforce and leadership on ESOL and immigrant-related issues. The ever changing demographics have created a great need for English classes in Boston and across the Commonwealth.
