Date and time
Description
Are you raising your children bilingually (like most Olim whose kids will speak English and Hebrew)?
If this answer to this is yes, you have probably asked yourselves the following questions and more:
•Am I doing the right thing by raising my child bilingually?
•Do bilingual children show language delay more than monolingual children?
•Is it OK to use two languages with my child?
•Are bilingual children confused by the two languages?
•Can bilingualism cause language impairment?
•Is there a bilingual advantage for children?
Prof. Sharon Armon-Lotem from Bar-Ilan University, the Director of Bilingualism Matters, Israel will be opening our 2019-2020 Tel Aviv Parenting Talks on Wednesday, November 20 at 8pm to discuss her research on this topic and answer your questions.
Bilingualism Matter, Israel, aims to bridge the gap between researchers and the community (bilingual families, educators, and policy makers) in order to enable more and more children to benefit from bilingualism. Its goal is to enable easy access to the results of the latest scientific research in the realm of bilingualism in order to help as many people as possible learn about the characteristics and benefits of multilingual development and make evidence decisions reflecting the linguistic and cultural diversity in Israel.
Prof. Armon-Lotem's have been studying the language of bilingual children in Israel for twenty years showing how bilingual children develop their language skills in both languages. She will share with you the most updated research on raising bilingual children and answer the above questions and more.
