RAIN ON ME- A 5K Run/Walk for Drought Victims in Ethiopia
Why we race for Ethiopia...
- 10.2 MILLION people are requiring food assistance.
- 5.8 MILLION people are lacking adequate WASH (water, hygiene, and sanitation) access.
- 435 THOUSAND children are at risk of severe acute malnutrition.
But by participating and fundraising for the Rain On Me 5K, you can help do something about the devastating drought that children and families are currently facing in Ethiopia. The Rain On Me project's goal is to raise $10,000 to support in the distribution of life essential materials to starving families affected by the El Niño warming phenomenon, which Time Magazine wrote,"... has caused one of the most severe droughts in Ethiopia in decades."
Young Orthodox Tewahedo Christians (YOTC) strives to provide an inclusive environment for ALL without discrimination to nationality, race, or political opinions, and we are specifically attempting to assist the Oromia region of Ethiopia; which is currently facing High Food Insecurity. Most recently, flooding in Bale (one of the zones in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia) caused multiple deaths, affected 1,381 acres of farmland, and washed away seeds vital for regions economic sustainability.
YOTC has partnered with a nonprofit organization to build a water-well in the Oromia region, so families can have access to groundwater free of sediment and contaminants. Your continued support is vital to the progress and successful completion of this project, and together we can help children and families survive by providing them with safe drinking water.
Thank you for your support, this cannot be accomplished without you!
