Description
Come join us for a day of white water rafting on the Saluda River! Raft-a-Rama offers participants the rare opportunity to go rafting with an experienced guide right here in Lexington, SC. Never been on the river? This is a great way to see another side of your city. The trip starts in Lexington at Canoeing for Kids headquarters and goes 8 miles into Columbia. You'll race down seven exciting rapids and paddle right under the Gervais Street Bridge!
Raft-a-Rama is an annual fundraiser for a unique local non-profit, Canoeing for Kids (canoeingforkids.org). No experience or special equipment is needed, however this activity is not recommended for children under the age of 5. Paid participants are guaranteed a seat in a raft, all necessary equipment, shuttle service from the end of the trip back to Canoeing for Kids, and a cook-out style lunch on the scenic property of Canoeing for Kids.
The trip will launch promptly at 9:30am, so arrive between 9 and 9:15 to allow time for parking and gearing up. Time on the water is approximately 2 hours. The rapids are rough and the water is cold, so participants should be physically capable of handling extreme conditions. Wear old tennis shoes or sandals with a heel strap and clothes that can get wet. Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are strongly recommended.
Come alone or organize a group of friends, family, or coworkers. All are welcome to this one-of-a-kind event!

About the organizer
Canoeing for Kids is a non-profit organization that serves as a free recreational outlet for disadvantaged children.
Canoeing for Kids' primary function is to provide free canoeing and kayaking trips for underprivileged children. Approximately 1,000 children benefit from Canoeing for Kids' services each year. Kids learn about teamwork and self-reliance and gain a tremendous sense of accomplishment, all while having fun being outside on the water.
Free services are provided to children's homes, camps for unhealthy, physically and mentally challenged children, and any other qualifying group. Adventures are catered to each individual group's skills and/or limitations.
Canoeing for Kids is also available to be booked by members of the general public for guided paddling trips and canoe and kayak rentals. These paid services help fund our non-profit mission.
