RAFApalooza:
A RAFA V Fundraiser, Silent Auction and Anti-Violence Event
On September 25, 2011, Rafael Delgadillo was shot in the head by two youth in New Orleans in an attempted car-jacking as he was driving home. Today Rafa is alive, but the bullet remains in his brain, and his sight remains drastically impaired.
Please join us for RAFApalooza, a citywide fundraiser, silent auction and anti-violence event in which New Orleanians from all communities join together to stand united against violent crime in New Orleans, and to raise money for Rafael's ongoing medical bills. Event features:
PLEASE NOTE: online ticket sales will end November 17 at 5pm. Tickets WILL BE AVAILABLE at the door until we hit capacity. $20 CASH ONLY AT THE DOOR. There is an ATM on the premises and we have extended RAFApalooza into part of the parking lot to accomodate demand.
The rest of the parking lot (directly behind Bayou Beer Garden, off N. Rendon), will be available, and there is also copious street parking around the bar. We will have heaters and tents set up, not to mention hundreds of people - so it will be a warm and cozy good time!
- Food donations from the generosity of Bayou Beer Garden, Boswell’s Jamaican Grill, Creole Cuisine, Divino Corazón, Drago’s, Finn McCool's, Green Fork Catering, Venezia, Whole Foods, Zach’s Frozen Yogurt, and more plus drink specials from Bayou Beer Garden and soft drinks provided by Pepsi
- Silent auction with items from Acme Oyster House, Boucherie, Dick and Jennys, Dress It Restaurant in the Omni Royal Crescent Hotel, José Torres-Toma, Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, La Petite Grocery, Lola’s Restaurant, Mariposa Salon, Moon Wok Restaurant, Mr. B's Bistro, the Monte Leon Children's Holiday Party, New Orleans Aikido, NOLA Project, the Omni Hotel, Piece 'A Work Art Gallery, the Sheraton Hotel, Universal Studios, Ur Way Yogurt & Coffee Bar and more
- A "Dear Rafa" photo shoot with Dear World, in which atteendees can write messages of support and anti-violence to Rafael and New Orleans
- Brief words from Rafael Delgadillo, as well as community leaders and City officials, about issues of violent crime in our city
Half of the proceeds from this event go directly to Rafael Delgadillo and his family to help with current and ongoing medical bills. The other half of the proceeds will go to an anti-violence nonprofit in New Orleans, which Rafael will announce at the event!
