To end April aka National Poetry Month on a high, we have for you a free Virtual Poetry Reading that you can attend from anywhere in the world. Poets George Abraham, Hal Y. Zhang, germ lynn, Ingrid Jendrzejewski, and María José Giménez will be reading.
Here's our lineup:
George Abraham
George Abraham is a Palestinian American poet and PhD candidate at Harvard University. They are a Kundiman fellow, and a board member for the Radius of Arab American Writers (RAWI). They are the author of the debut poetry collection, Birthright (Button Poetry, April 2020).
Hal Y. Zhang
Hal Y. Zhang is a lapsed physicist who splits her time between the east coast of the United States and the Internet. Her science fiction chapbook HARD MOTHER, SPIDER MOTHER, SOFT MOTHER was published by Radix Media. Her poetry chapbook on language and loss, AMNESIA will be published by the Newfound Emerging Poets Series.
María José Giménez
María José Giménez is a poet, translator, and editor whose work has received support from the NEA, the Studios at MASS MoCA, the Breadloaf Translators’ Conference, Canada Council for the Arts, and Banff International Literary Translators’ Centre. Among other awards, María José has been named 2019–2021 Poet Laureate of Easthampton, Massachusetts.
germ lynn
germ lynn (they/them) is a cellist and writer from Tampa, Florida. As a journalist, they have published in Slate, Broadly, and Playboy. As a poet, they have published in a number of DIY zines (Whiny Femmes, Achey Breaky Heart, Cracked on the Rock) and most recently in a collection from Trapart Books titled Rendering Unconscious: Psychoanalytic Perspectives, Politics, and Poetry.
Ingrid Jendrzejewski
Ingrid Jendrzejewski has had poetry published in serves as Co-director of National Flash Fiction Day, Editor-in-Chief of FlashBack Fiction and and an editor at JMWW. Her poetry has been published in places like Rattle, The Mithila Review and The Mainichi.
