Radiological Monitoring and Decontamination Drill 2019
Event Information
Description
Miami-Dade County conducts an annual Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant exercise. Every other year we are evaluated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and 2019 is an evaluated year. In addition to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) exercise, we are required to conduct out of sequence drills and one of these is the Radiological Monitoring and Decontamination Drill. This drill is planned for 2-3 hours and the scenario involves the monitoring, decontamination, and registration of people evacuating the 10-mile emergency planning zone.
In order to simulate the decontamination procedures for FEMA evaluators, we are seeking for volunteers to play the part of evacuees. The drill will occur on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at Tamiami Park.
Attendees must be 15+ years old by 3/13/19. Those 15-17 years of age will be asked to fill out a form and bring it to the drill.
We need your assistance to make the event possible. Please feel free to let others know about this event and have them RSVP if they are interested. If you have any questions, please e-mail jessica.sandoval@miamidade.gov
Please register here and you will receive further instructions via email. You will receive a reminder approximately two weeks prior to the event. Thank you for your participation in this emergency preparedness drill.
Sincerely,
