About this Event

Comprised of Fraser McCallum, Roger Carter, Adam Gallant, and Colin Buchanan, Racoon Bandit show a knack for warm folk-rock arrangements that hide an anthemic bite. Equal parts roots, pysch-rock, and indie-pop, the Bandits turn heads across the country every time they release new music, including 2018's 10th anniversary EP, and previous award-winning albums Close Your Eyes, Into the Hills, and Campcraft. In the vein of fellow East Coast stalwarts Sloan & Thrush Hermit, the Bandits share songwriting and lead vocal duties, bringing a dynamic sound and performance to their self-produced records and to the stage.

For this special occasion at Trailside--their favourite venue anywhere--the Bandits will release a new recording. Produced by long-time in-band engineer Adam Gallant at Hill Sound Studio, the single "Don't Be Afraid" is a McCallum-penned love song and a classic Bandit pop-rock anthem. This may be the front-man's most vulnerable song to date, a yearning love song that presses the listener to "get after the things you want, do something about it, even when you have everything to lose." Inspired by Petty, Orbison, and new music from Tim Baker, the new single will be out released September 24, 2019.

The single release show will feature the full Racoon Bandit lineup with opening support from long-time friend and frequent collaborator Andrew Murray, who plays solo as Chet Martel, as well as lead guitar in other indie and pop acts like Sorrey, English Words, and Baby God.

“Racoon Bandit show a knack for warm folk-rock arrangements that hide an anthemic bite; something that goes smoothly next to daydreamed campfires and docks at sunset…The lyrics, mood and scope of this band hugs at the very nature of being Canadian.” – Skeleton Crew Quarterly.

Racoon Bandit has played the Cavendish Beach Music Fest, the ECMA’s, Music PEI Awards, the PEI 2014 Celebration Zone, the Dead of Winter Festival, and arranged and recorded the title theme song for the award-winning Canadian web series Just Passin Through. Winners of 3 Music PEI Awards and two-time ECMA nominees, the quartet has shared the stage with many fine entertainers, including Alvvays, The Sadies, April Wine, Al Tuck, Said the Whale, Two Hours Traffic, Hannah Georgas, and Erin Costelo.
