Would you like to learn how to effectively design and sequence racial justice professional learning? Would you like to learn how to stimulate transformative thinking around racial justice and equity? Are you looking for tools to manage individual and institutional resistance to equity and redirect that energy toward justice?
The Equity Literacy Institute has been leading educational equity and justice facilitator trainings for more than 20 years. In this virtual workshop series you will learn from experienced facilitators Paul Gorski and Marceline DuBose, along with special guests, the ins and outs of designing and leading effective, well-organized, deep-reaching racial equity and justice professional learning opportunities based on the equity literacy framework. We also will explore how to effectively engage colleagues in deep learning about racism, white supremacy, and related conditions in less formal contexts or impromptu opportunities.
This training is designed for educators, nonprofit professionals, professional development specialists, equity specialists, and anyone else who wants to lead the sorts of professional learning the Equity Literacy Institute leads.
We will meet Thursdays in October 2023, 6:00-8:30 PM east coast time (with a break built in). We also will provide particpiants with a virtual toolbox of the exercises, short readings, case scenarios, and handouts we use in our workshops. Participants will be given a 10-hour professional learning certificate at the end of the series.
The morning of each of the four sessions participants will receive an email with login instructions for that week's session.
All sessions will be recorded and distributed to registrants the day after each session. So, if you have to miss all or part of any session, you will still be able to see it. Note that recordings will be available for one week, then taken down.
