Event description

Description

Derived from the word katha, meaning "the art of storytelling," Kathak is one of India's most dynamic, classical dance-theatre traditions. Following in the footsteps of her guru, Pandit Chitresh Das, Rachna Nivas, one of the world's most celebrated contemporary Indian dancers, is using Kathak to dialogue with other world dance traditions. For this special Library program, Nivas offers an enthralling introduction to Kathak, with virtuosic musicianship, narrative movement, and expert interpretation.

(If you need assistance with online reservations, please visit the welcome desk at the Library for the Performing Arts' Lincoln Center Plaza entrance, where volunteers will make a reservation for you, even if you do not use email. For free events, The Library generally overbooks to ensure a full house. All registered seats are released 15 minutes before start time, so we recommend that you arrive early.)
