Description
Presented by the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area as one of the monthly Porch Programs at this location, "Race and #Real Talk" features “Harmony’s African-American Legacy Organization” (HALO), an all-female African American barbershop quartet whose mission is to use the unique style of harmonic progression in barbershop singing to help communities engage in constructive dialogue pertaining to race. The 157th Anniversary of the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation provides a springboard for the music selections and conversation.
In the event of rain, this program will be moved to the Antietam National Battlefield Visitor Center (5831 Dunker Church Rd, Sharpsburg, MD 21782).
This program is supported in part by a Maryland State Arts Council Creativity Grant. Additional support is provided by Antietam National Battlefield and Visit Hagerstown.
