TBI welcomes Rabbi Judith Schindler, author of "Recharging Judaism" as our Winter 2021 Rosenfeld Scholar. Schindlers's book, subtitled "HowCivic Engagement Os Good for Synagogues, Jews, and America" will be the focus of two group discussions in anticipation of her virtual visit and one workshop session following her visit in which Rabbi Schindler will participate. Discussion participants are expected to read or be familiar with the book, which is available in print and e-book format through Amazon or your favorite retailer. Registration is requested for discussion/workshop sessions only. Please register for each event separately. No registration needed for Shabbat Service on Friday, January 29th. All events on Zoom and are co-sponsored by the Rosenfeld Scholars Committee and the Social Action Committee.
Having served 21 years in the pulpit, Rabbi Judith Schindler is the founding director of the Greenspon Center for Peace and Social Justice, aiming to inspire advocacy and enable work for justice both on the Queens University of Charlotte campus and in the greater Charlotte community.
She is currently co-authoring a book entitled Recharging Judaism: How Civic Engagement Helps Synagogues, Jews, and America, expected for publication in 2018 by CCAR Press. She has contributed articles to 10 books on Judaism and has written editorials in the Charlotte Observer.
She has led the creation of three Telly award-winning social justice documentaries addressing diversity in schools, urban education and affordable housing. Her research interests are focused on social justice and the faith community, and she enjoys leading educational and interfaith trips to Israel and Europe.
Rabbi Schindler loves hot yoga and sitting on the sidelines with her husband, Chip, watching their two sons play high school sports.
