Just in time for the holiday season! Learn the simple and delicious joy of making fresh cheeses at home with this class taught by cheesemonger and food writer Alex Jones. In just a few quick steps and with simple ingredients you may already have in your kitchen, you can make your own quick milk ricotta and fresh mozzarella at home. You’ll learn about the benefits of grassfed milk and the culture and science around these fresh cheeses as well as how they’re made. We’ll sample the products at the end of class, and you’ll leave with recipes and a few key ingredients you can use to make these tasty, nutritious cheeses at home.

About the presenter:

Alex Jones is a writer, cheesemonger, food educator, and regional food systems advocate who has been working with farmers and artisans in Pennsylvania for the past eight years. She is one-third of the team behind Collective Creamery, a women-powered artisan cheese subscription based in southeast Pennsylvania, and has written for publications like CivilEats.com, BillyPenn.com, Edible Philly, Edible Jersey, and Grid. She's the dining critic for the Cherry Hill Courier-Post in addition to working as a digital contributor for Foobooz.com, Philadelphia magazine's food and drink site. She teaches cheese appreciation and pairing classes as well as home cheesemaking in and around Philadelphia.
