A day of self care and community healing.
Dedicated to all workers in the queer/trans (LGBTTQQIP2SA inclusive) communities. Queer Careposium provides an opportunity to acknowledge the self in the midst of community work, be it activism, social work, personal/health care, peer support work, or supporting local social events. The day is part personal rejuvenation, part celebration of our inherent skills and part exploration of perspectives on our participation and support systems in community involvement. The goal of this queerposium is to prevent burn-out and promote healthy engagement.
The line up:
Dancing for Wellbeing with Joanne Cuffe of Creative Momentum;
http://www.creativemoment.im/dancing/forwellbeing/
Superqueero Community Counsels: Skills and Strategies, a presentation and discussion with Robert Birch, PhD Student, Social Dimensions of Health, UVic.
Community Healing Discussion and Acupuncture Demonstration with Christina Chan of Heart and Hands Community Acupuncture Clinic, http://heartandhandscommunity.ca/testimonials/community-acu-group-building/
Safe Harbour - nurturing a sustainable base from which to live, love and change the world with Metta, a Registered Clinical Counsellor and member of the local trans community.
Throughout the day there will be speed friending and other community building exercises that promote cross-community engagement.
Queerposium is a series of inclusive, interactive LGBTTQQIP2SA events that have been happening in Victoria since 2012. Queerposium is made up of an adhoc group that forms anew to produce each event. We strive to bring together queer and trans folk from all walks of life to engage in community building activities that range from discussion, workshops, presentations, meditation, small group activities and socializing in an inclusive atmosphere. As a group we encourage inclusive, cross-community engagement with a ‘play while learning’ approach.

Location is wheelchair accessible with gender neutral, single user washrooms.
FAQs
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
This is an "all ages" event - meaning youth are welcome but small children are best left with their other parent or sitter. There will be no alcohol at this event.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is a public parking lot for the fairfield Community Place, please keep in mind that the Moss Street Market will be on in the shool yard on this day so the lot will fill up quickly - get there early.
The number 7 bus runs along Fairfield road. Although the address of Fairfield Community Place is on Fairfield Road, the entrance to the Garry Oak Room is one block north of Fairfield on Thurlow, just past the school yard. For map and schedule see BCtransit link: https://bctransit.com/victoria/schedules-and-maps/route-overview?route=7&schedule=1403643789962
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Lunch will be provided. Wear loose fitting comfortable clothing if you intend to participate in the dance class and/or the acupuncture demonstration.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
An email to hello@queerposium.org will be answered by someone at Queerposium
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Sure, we don't keep track of who is buying the tickets - in fact we encourage people to purchase "pay it forward" tickets to enable others who are rich in things other than $$ to participate in our event.
