Event description

Description

Where does the buck stop? The socio-economic problems around Gurney Street, the impact of Air-Bridge, the behavioral and emotional impacts, and the increasing amount of overdoses and lives lost in Philadelphia all stemming from the negative and very traumatic impact of the opioid use and abuse affecting children and families in the Latino community.

The recent Gurney Street Project and the Mayor’s Task Force around the Opioid crisis focusing on ridding our city of this rising epidemic are beginning to counter the negative effects that this epidemic has on our city but, is this where the buck stops?

The Latino Behavioral Health Coalition invites and challenges our community to accept the call for action joining our city officials, leaders, and concerned citizens on the mission of increased awareness and the continued strife to discuss ongoing ideas, actions, and steps towards ridding our city of this debilitating epidemic.

Come listen to stories of oppression but also those of hope and resilience that are resultant of Opioid crisis as the Latino Behavioral Health Coalition proudly hosts a call to action, our prequel to our 6th Annual Symposium to be held in 2018, entitled: ¿Qué está pasando, Philly? A trauma-informed call for Action to Fight the Opioid Crisis.”
