Roben Farzad is a contributing writer for Bloomberg Businessweek. He appears frequently on MSNBC, CNN, The PBS News Hour, C-SPAN, CNBC, and Dateline NBC. He is also a regular on the NPR shows All Things Considered, Weekend Edition, Marketplace and the Brian Lehrer Show.
A graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Business School, Roben recently became a Virginian, making his home in Richmond with his wife and baby boy.
Michael Bor, Founder and CEO of CarLotz, Inc. CarLotz aims to redefine the used car marketplace, using a consignment model that allows used car buyers and sellers to transact safely, efficiently and anonymously. From an 80 page business plan in 2010, Mike and his team raised capital and opened the first store in 2011. In 2012, they rasied more capital, opened two more stores and hired 2 dozen employees. Mike's vision is for CarLotz to become business of significant scale.
Tom Cricchi, President & CEO of SyCom Technologies. SyCom provides IT infrastructure solutions to Virginia-based organizations of all sizes and industries. With a mission to provide outstanding and memorable service in everything they do, SyCom sells, installs and supports the latest technology from Cisco, Microsoft, EMC, HP, Citrix, VMWare and other partners. Tom became CEO in 2007. In just the last three years, Tom has led SyCom's growth from $33 to 60 million, with 133 employees.
Robyn Deyo, President & CEO of Barber Martin Agency. Robyn started with the agency 16 years ago as an admin assistant. Rising to become the leader of the firm, she has led double-digit annual growth since 1996. Barber Martin is recognized an respected as being a smart, on-target retail, consumer, and b2b marketing and advertising agency in the midatlantic and southeast. Additions of clients like Elephant Auto Insurance, nTelos Wireless, Bassett Furniture and Richmond International Raceway have helped Barber Martin grow 126% since 2009.
Todd Furbee, President/Owner of Delta Pure Filtration. Based in Ashland, Delta Pure manufacutures filter cartridges that are used for water and various liquid filtration. Since buying the company in 2007, Todd has grown the business primarily through international sales, which now represent nearly 50% of revenue. Growing 43% in the last two years, Delta Pure recently broke ground on a plant addition to expand production capacity.
