The Luncheon Keynote 12:00 - 1:30 pm (members & sponsors only)

During an engaging 45-minute "Fireside Chat" between Dr. Shelton Goode and one VACEOs member, participants will learn about key workforce challenges brought on by the “Great Resignation,” and explore strategies that address talent acquisition, development, and retention.

The Post-Luncheon Workshop 2:00 - 3:30 pm (members, sponsors AND their team-members)

A 90-minute content-packed, interactive workshop will guide participants through business case scenarios and allow them to present cases from their own organization to analyze and develop strategies for select business scenarios. The workforce strategies and shared knowledge of current trends will be collectively applied to the various cases and discussed to provide viable solutions for the organizations represented in the session. Topics will include talent acquisition, employee engagement & development, DEI, and retention.

Participants will be given the opportunity to ensure continuity, review, and reinforce the fireside chat and workshop takeaways by connecting with Dr. Goode in a 30-minute coaching session. Managers are critical to creating a culture and inclusive work environment that enable employees to be their best. However, not all leaders have the skills necessary to accomplish this objective.

Dr. Shelton Goode is the president and chief executive officer of Icarus Consulting. This veteran-owned consulting firm specializes in helping organizations create a culture that leverages diversity and inclusion for competitive advantage.

Dr. Goode is a business executive with over 20 years of executive coaching, HR, and higher education experience. He has held executive positions for companies ranging in size from $300M to $18B+. He has developed or implemented talent management programs, performance management systems, sales incentive plans, labor relations strategies, and large-scale culture change initiatives.

He was a senior D&I executive at the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Agency, Oshkosh Corporation, Pennsylvania Power & Light (PPL), Georgia Power, Southern Company, and Alabama Power. Based on the results achieved in these positions, he earned a reputation as a strategic yet results-oriented leader.

Dr. Goode is the author of several award-winning books, including: Beyond Inclusion: Reimagining the Future of Work, Workers, and the Workplace: Diversity Managers: Angels of Mercy or Barbarians at the Gate; Winter in America: The Impact of the 2016 Presidential Election on Diversity in Companies, Communities, and the Country; and Crisis as a Platform for Social Change from Strawberry Mansion to Silicon Valley.
