Description

What’s the most important phase of creating a film? Some would argue that it’s the production part. But in reality, a smooth production depends on a extensive pre production. Join us at In Progress on May 26th, 2017, for our fifth Filmmakers Workshop, hosted by Hmong Filmmakers Guild and Qhia Dab Neeg. During this workshop, we’ll focus on the many different aspects of pre production. From location scouting, budgeting your film, breaking down your script up to the day right before the shoot.

Dan Yang was born and raised in Saint Paul, MN. After finishing High School, he began his undergraduate degree in Economics. However, after a year of Economics, he began to realize how much film had become a part of his life and decided to pursue film not only as a hobby, but also as a form of education and career. He decided to attend Columbia College Chicago to gain a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Cinema Science. While attending school for his BA, he started the Hmong Filmmaker's Guild: A group dedicated towards advancing and bettering the Hmong Filmmaking Community. Not only that, he also started his own production group, which not only has created freelance videos but also concentrates on the teaching aspect of films as well. As a graduate, he works as the Video Producer for the National Sports Center. There, he leads not only the content creation aspect of videos but also the marketing and curation of creative content. In the future, he hopes to direct a feature and write a book on films.
