Event description

Description

Abstract: This workshop is designed to introduce Python programming and other useful packages for data science. It will start with a very basic introduction of python programming. Then, a set of four important, useful and popular tools: Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, and Matplotlib, that are widely used for data scientists, will be introduced. These packages provide Python programmers with convenient and efficient data structures and functions for data analysis, visualization, and even high-performance modeling and simulations with large-scale data. They are also very friendly tools that users can manage with minimal knowledge of Python programming and are the ideal replacements to other software applications for data processing such as Excel and Matlab.
Objectives: Attendees will learn:

  • Programming with Python

  • Using NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib packages in Python

  • Data processing with Python

Level: Intermediate.
Duration: 2 Hours

Prerequisites: Participants should bring a laptop; Basic python programming skills are preferred; It is recommended that participants have Anaconda3 (https://www.anaconda.com/downloads) pre-installed on their laptops
