The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will host a Python Patrol Training on September 19, 2014 at Gasparilla Island State Park. Note- after registering, print out the ticket that is automatically generated and bring it to the workshop. You will need to place the ticket on the dash of your car to show that you are at the training. Do not pay the admittance fee at the front gate- drive into the park and follow the signs to the Amory Chapel where the training will be held.
The training will start indoors with a presentation about Burmese pythons in Florida, regulations for this species, how to identify and detect exotic reptiles and report sightings. The second half of the training will be outdoors, and participants will practice safe capture with live, wild caught snakes. Participants must wear long pants and closed toe shoes for the hands-on portion of the training.
