Event description

Description

Brief Description:

This workshop builds on skills covered in Python Parts 1 and 2 and features a "deep dive" into Python scripting for advanced spatial analysis. Instructor Silas Toms, author of "ArcPy and ArcGIS - Geospatial Analysis with Python" will focus on Python automation for geospatial anaylsis, within and beyond the ArcGIS software ecosystem.

This class meets once per week (6:00 - 9:00 p.m.) for three weeks/sessions: Mar. 22; Apr. 5, 12 (no class Mar. 29)

Important Notes:

  • Student must possess basic ArcGIS skills; finishing the GIS Quick Start class would meet this requirement. Completing the Python Part 1 (Python Basics) workshop, or similar, is also recommended.

  • The workshop venue may change based on classroom availability. Registered students will be given advance notice if this is the case.

  • If the workshop is held, as planned, at CCSF's Mission campus, computers will be provided for workshop exercises. Alternately, students are welcome to bring their own laptops.

  • If the workshop must be moved to another venue, students will be required to bring their own wi-fi enabled laptops to class, either a PC or a Mac.

Instructor: Silas Toms - this guy "wrote the book" on Python (well, "a" book). Come and learn from a Python master.
