Event description

Description

Brief Description:

This course will introduce Python 3 data science tools used by geospatial analysts and data scientists alike, including Jupyter Notebooks, Numpy, and Pandas. Covering vector and raster analysis, this workshop will include virtual environments, browser-based analysis, and data visualization. Taught by Silas Toms, author of Mastering Geospatial Analysis with Python. Taught by Silas Toms, author of ArcPy and ArcGIS, now in its second edition.

This class meets once per week (6:00 - 9:00 p.m.) for four sessions: March 13, March 20 (no class March 27), April 3, and April 10.

Important Notes:

  • Student are expected to possess basic ArcGIS skills; finishing our GIS Quick Start workshop or an equivalent would meet this requirement. Students should also have completed our "Python Part 1 (Basics)" workshop or an equivalent.

  • The workshop venue may change based on classroom availability. Registered students will be given advance notice if this is the case.

  • If the workshop is held, as planned, at CCSF's Mission campus, computers will be provided for workshop exercises. Alternately, students are welcome to bring their own laptops.

  • If the workshop must be moved to another venue, students will be required to bring their own wi-fi enabled laptops to class, either a PC or a Mac.

Instructor: Silas Toms - this guy "wrote the book" on Python (well, "a" book). Come and learn from a Python master.
