Event description

Description

Brief Description:

An introduction to Python and its features and libraries. Functions, iterations, and modules will be explored to give new users basic Python code comprehension. These basics will be applied to spatial analysis, including the ArcPy Python library, over the three-session workshop. By the end of the workshop, students will understand basic Python code and will be able to create custom ArcGIS script tools.

This class meets once per week (6:00 - 9:00 p.m.) for three weeks/sessions: Jan. 30; Feb. 6, 13.

Important Notes:

  • Student must possess basic ArcGIS skills; finishing the GIS Quick Start class would meet this requirement.

  • The workshop venue may change based on classroom availability. Registered students will be given advance notice if this is the case.

  • If the workshop is held, as planned, at CCSF's Mission campus, computers will be provided for workshop exercises. Alternately, students are welcome to bring their own laptops.

  • If the workshop must be moved to another venue, students will be required to bring their own wi-fi enabled laptops to class, either a PC or a Mac.

Instructor: Silas Toms - this guy "wrote the book" on Python (well, "a" book). Come and learn from a Python master.
