Event description

Description

With the generous support of the Office of Research and Doctoral Programs, we are organizing a one-day workshop on the basics of Python and Web Data Extraction. The workshop is tentatively planned to run from 9:50 am to about 3:45 pm on Tuesday, May 31st.

We plan to record the sessions and make the recording available on Blackboard to all faculty and doctoral students. So if you cannot make it to the session, you should still be able to access the recording and other materials including sample Python scripts if you are interested. Also, if there is sufficient interest, we will arrange for a second workshop for those who could not make it to the first either because of other commitments or because they did not register on time.

Jing Gong from our MIS department (http://community.mis.temple.edu/gong/) will host the workshop with assistance from some PhD and undergraduate students.

Notes relating to the workshop will be made available on Jing’s website in the next couple of weeks (you will be informed once the notes are in place). Also, we will provide instructions for downloading Python software onto your laptops (which you should do at least a couple of daysbefore the workshop so that you are ready to use Python when the workshop starts).

If you have any questions relating to the workshop, please contact Sudipta Basu (sudiptab@temple.edu) or Lalitha Naveen (lnaveen@temple.edu).
