Sophia Liu, 9-year-old full scholarship award prizewinner of 2018 Philadelphia International Piano Competition
Born in Shanghai, China, Sophia moved to Japan at the age of 2. She started learning piano at age 4 and her first public performance on the stage was at age 5. First Prize winner at the Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, CT, Sophia has won several prizes in Japan, China, and Canada, including the Concerto Competition of McGill University.
Sarah Tuan, First-Prize Winner of the 2018 Philadelphia International Piano Competition
She currently studies with Ning An and has appeared on NPR's "From the Top" in 2017. She is one of eight young pianists chosen worldwide to participate in the Piano Academy Eppan (Italy). She was a top prize winner at the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition and the San Jose International Piano Competition, among others.

Philadelphia Young Pianists’ Academy (PYPA) was established by concert pianist Ching-Yun Hu to help young artists achieve their dreams of becoming professional pianists. It has blossomed into one of the most highly-anticipated and unique organizations, presenting the sought after PYPA Summer Piano Festival, the PYPA Young Virtuosi, and PYPA Piano World. Each program offers a distinctive platform, offering intensive master classes, public concerts and audience forums, featuring internationally celebrated pianists. The accompanying guest lecture series led by music industry executives offers insight to students and the international music community.
