- A Chance to Win Outdoor Gear in Our Drawings
- A Silent Disco Dance Party after the plunge
- A Great Start to the New Year!
Ways to Support the Pyka Plunge!

- Stay Dry and Watch from the Beach: Cause your not crazy enough to get in that water.
- Make a Donation: This is a FREE event, but we'd like to encourage you to make a donation of whatever feels good to make this event happen year after year!
Join us in the water*!
*Please pre-register for the event so that we know how many people to expect.
Bring a towel and warm clothes to change into.
The fun starts at 10:30am at Mukilteo State Park (609 Front Street, Mukilteo, WA). We’ll have a toasty bonfire, S'mores, Hot Chocolate and Hot Cider, and a few snacks. As with any Kula Event there may or may not be a few surprises.
Here is what we suggest if you decide to take the chilly plunge with us:
- A warm towel… or maybe two or three.
- A change of clothes (you really don’t want to drive home cold and wet -- trust us)
- A thermos for coco or other warm drinks
- A warm hat
- Some gloves and hand-warmers
- Extra socks
- Your sense of humor
- Your common sense (and maybe some for us)
- $ for parking or a warm cup of soup at Ivars for after the plunge
- And a costume if you’re up for it.
W here we'll meet:
609 Front St, Mukilteo, WA 98275
At the fire pits closest to the Boat Launch
A special Thank You to our Friends at Whidbey Coffee for keeping us warm with hot coffee!
*SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:
- If you have heart problems or other serious medical concerns, we recommend that you consult your healthcare professional before taking The Plunge or better yet… just watch us from the beach. Seriously… we won’t have a lifeguard or medics on duty. It’s up to you to keep yourself safe.
- Don’t drink alcohol – it doesn’t warm you up, it accelerates hypothermia.
- Do NOT plan on staying in the water for very long... less than 5 minutes. You lose body heat 25 times faster in water than in air.
- Keep your outer clothing on until you’re ready to get in the water. After the plunge, remove wet clothing before getting into dry clothes.
*WARNING: People with a family history of stroke, aneurysm, blood pressure problems, hypertension, or sudden cardiac death should cheer us on from the beach. This is an enter at your own risk event.
About the Kula Academy:
Since the pandemic, the Kula Academy has hosted nearly 600 classes and events. We’ve hiked sections of the PCT, summited volcanoes, paddled wild rivers, camped under starlit skies, painted, jumped into cold water for no good reason and danced — A LOT! Along the way, we’ve removed heaps of garbage from the Mountain Loop Highway, planted deciduous and evergreen trees, and taught people how to leave the world a better place. It's a corner of the universe where adventure, creativity and stewardship collide!
Whether you’re here to master winter camping, learn “How Not to Die” doing the things you love, or simply because a pee cloth brought you our way, doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’re here! And we’re glad that our paths have crossed. We hope that you’ll join us on our adventures because you’re the missing ingredient in our trail mix. Come ready to laugh, learn, and leave with new friends and hopefully a deeper connection to others, yourself, and the world around us.
Check out all of our classes here. And if you're interested in teaching a class, feel free to reach out to allison@kulacloth.com
