Event description

Explore eight different countries as we travel by ship through Europe and Russia. Experience the rich culture, history and architecture of some of the most vibrant cities in Europe. Engage with important global issues as we exchange ideas around globalization, sustainability, cross-cultural understanding, Brexit and other geo-political themes.

For the second year, Piedmont Virginia Community College is offering a unique Faculty-Led educational travel opportunity available to students enrolled at any Virginia community college, as well as general members of the community.

14-days...8 Countries

The voyage departs from London Tilbury on June 27 and will travel to Amsterdam (Netherlands), Copenhagen (Denmark), Warnemünde (Germany), Tallin (Estonia), St. Petersburg (Russia), Helsinki (Finland), Stockholm (Sweden) and Aarhus (Denmark), before returning back to Tilbury on July 11.

Life on the Ship

The ship will serve as our home and campus during the voyage and is a wonderful place to learn and engage in conversation. Impeccable service, wonderful meals, fitness centers and a variety of tasteful evening entertainment are all included.

Academic Program

This study-abroad voyage is offered as part on the PVCC International Business course during the summer term. Students can earn 3 credits by enrolling in this course or may audit the course for non-credit. The course will start online and will continue during the 14-day voyage, when we will meet daily in a classroom. It is intended for any major and focuses on cross-cultural understanding, sustainability, globalization and other social issues. Non-students may simply join the voyage as an enrichment experience and are encouraged to engage in discussions that will take place both in the classroom and outside.

Independent Travel

A fundamental goal of this program is to gain the skills and confidence to travel independently. During the voyage we will learn the highlights of each country and plan independent travel opportunities in small groups. Most places of interest are within easy reach from the ship.
