Putting Words to Your WHY

With Holly Stancil of Intermezzo Coaching

“So, tell me about yourself.” In a job interview, at a networking event, or seated next to a stranger on a plane, this simple question offers a huge opportunity to present yourself and your goals. Putting words to what you’re doing and why it matters is the key to building the career and life you want.

Why is the answer so hard? What is too much or too little? How do you describe your goals? What is at the heart of your story? In this session we’ll focus on identifying the motivations behind your goals and creating compelling versions of your story for networking, LinkedIn, resumes, interviews, and internal promotion opportunities.

This is Holly Stancil, a career coach, resume writer, and founder of Intermezzo Coaching. In every role of her professional, volunteer, and family life, she has loved connecting people with their full potential. At Intermezzo, Holly works with clients to find clarity in their career goals, and to tell their story with confidence. Many of Holly’s coaching clients are returning to work after a pause; changing industries or roles; adjusting to new professional, academic, or personal challenges; or rebalancing their priorities in a new life stage.

Holly spent her early career in recruiting, training, and performance evaluation in financial services and consulting. After a 12-year parenting pause, she returned to work in the nonprofit arena, focusing on communications, fundraising, and human resources. She holds a BA in psychology from the University of Virginia and a certificate in Leadership Coaching from Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business. She is a certified emotional intelligence coach and Individual Directions Inventory practitioner; in addition, she coaches a return-to-work program, THRIVE Like a Mother, through Parents Pivot. She lives in Charlottesville, VA, with her husband, three busy teenagers, and two lazy labradoodles.
