About this event

Greetings LM insureds. We are thrilled to once again offer our annual FREE CLE series. While we greatly value our in-person programs in your cities and towns, like you with your law practices, we adjusted our plans to protect the community. With our virtual programs, we look forward to connecting with everyone from Cherokee to Chocowinity!

For insureds in the west, please select from the two dates in November. Our insureds in central and eastern North Carolina, please select from the dates offered in February. Just know we look forward to seeing you soon. We value your time and appreciate your business!

FREE for Lawyers Mutual Insureds, Paralegals & Staff

$50 for Non-Insured Attorneys

Topics to be discussed:

Attorney-Client Privilege, Confidentiality, and the Work Product Doctrine: Traps for the Inattentive Lawyer by Mark Scruggs and Warren Savage, Sr. Claims Attorneys, Lawyers Mutual

Through a discussion of recent case law, ethics opinions and hypotheticals, this program addresses how lawyers can best protect the confidentiality of communications with their clients through the course of the matter.

The One That Got Away: A Guide to NOT Being Phished by Patrick Brown, VP- Enterprise/Operational Risk Mgmt, Lawyers Mutual

Oftentimes the greatest threat to our information security is our own curiosity and behavior. Unfortunately, the “bad guys” know this too and use it to their advantage. Through this program we will look at common phishing mechanisms, tactics, and examples as well as the risks they pose to you, your firm, and your clients. But there is good news – behavior is not just a vulnerability, is also the best defense! Join us to learn how to avoid the tasty bait and swim away without being hooked, so you are always “the one that got away.”

The Resilience Library™ by Renee Branson, Principal, RB Consulting

Participants will learn the relationship between resilience and well-being, as well as begin to identify and curate their own resilience library based on the six different domains of resilience (calm, optimism, reason, integrity, health and connection). Why focus on resilience? Resilience building works as a proactive measure both in the individual lives of those working in the profession and in the systems and cultures of the organization. Resilience serves to inoculate people against the harmful effects of chronic stress and immediate crisis, alike. We will also address the unique stressors and impact of COVID-19 on both professional and personal lives.
