Put a Little Spring in Your Yoga Step is an alignment-based workshop to introduce you to a dynamic yoga practice that will awaken your muscles, your focus, and leave you with a lightness in your step. This is not your typical vinyasa class. By taking a small step outside of the boundaries of your usual practice, you will find an innately familiar awareness, that has perhaps been masked in your day to day living. The Bowspring practice (Sridaiva), from where this session is inspired, is a springy, curvy, dynamic posture that you can use not only on your yoga mat, but for every day sitting, standing, and moving. By exploring some basic components, you will open yourself up both mentally and physically to a whole new level of awareness and practice.
The Bowspring is a dynamic postural template for optimal functionality and graceful movement for any body. You will learn a synergy of alignment between 10 key parts of the body to create fluid lightness and springy power. This will be an introduction, with lots of standing poses and some seated/supine poses, for all levels. It’s equally as perfect for those who have never ever practiced yoga before.
This workshop is for you if:
-you have discomfort and stiffness in your hips or back
-are a runner, cyclist, or athlete of any kind and are tired of feeling like you are on a seesaw of stiffness and flexibility (you start to loosen up and open in your yoga class -only to end up back at square one after a long game, run, ride,….insert your activity here!)
-you have postural issues you know are causing you pain or discomfort
-you want a challenge, yet also want a practice that is accessible to the level you are at now
-you are ready to explore postural alignment that will make you really THRIVE
-have been taking my Tuesday night class, are enjoying it and want to learn more
This workshop will take your practice in a different direction than a traditional vinyasa class. So if you are open to trying something new that includes dynamic graceful movement, engages the back side of your body unlike any other yoga class as you tone and strengthen all sides, then join me for two hours of this dynamic yoga style.
