PUSH is an original short play highlighting the universal feelings and unique facets of having a baby.
About this event
Having a baby can make life unrecognizable. Women encounter a flood of expectations, joys, absurdities, and pressures. Based on interviews of local Black and White women, PUSH is a short original play that uses poetry, humor, and heart to illuminate the commonalities and nuances of their stories.
PUSH is the sixth Community Conversation One-Act produced by Summit Performance Indianapolis. In partnership with Dr. Sally Wasmuth of the IUPUI Department of Occupational Therapy, Summit produces original social justice-themed one-act plays. The scripts are created by local artists using the content of interviews conducted by Dr. Wasmuth and her team. Each one-act performance is followed by a panel discussion reflecting on the play and on the content the play explores.
