Spark your festive Holiday Mood at our Celebration of Educators’ Panel/Fall Meeting on Friday, Dec. 11, 7:00 – 8:30 PM, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville. We will be welcoming as panelists newly elected school board members, including Veronica Davidson of Albany Unified School District and newly elected Berkeley Unified School District Board members Laura Babitt and Ana Vasudeo. The panel will be 7-8 PM; the all-member meeting will be 8-8:30 PM.

Emphasizing the theme of “Pursuing Excellence in Uncharted Territory,” the panel discussion will begin with a brief statement from each of the panelists, followed by their responses to questions from League members and the audience focusing on needs of K-12 students in today’s Covid 19-challenged environment – such as 1) what measures help students learn most effectively when distance-learning, 2) how can distance learnin and g be made attractive to discourage absenteeism, 3) what virtual learning strategies could be effective in preventing long-term deficits in achievement once in-person classes resume, 4) how to help students recognize and avoid misinformation on social media platforms.
