Event description

Join SAM and Purpose Power at a Hartford Town Hall. Connect across difference and find common cause with those working to strengthen our communities across Hartford, Connecticut, and New England.

Put your highest purpose into action and join community groups, activists, and everyday people as we define a shared vision that will guide how we collaborate to build a better future.

Featuring an opening keynote from Oz Griebel, former independent candidate in the 2018 gubernatorial election!

“The Purpose Power Town Hall was one of the most refreshing and exciting civic experiences I’ve had in [my city]. At a time when the world seems more divided than ever, it was great to meet people from across the city, to find common ground, and to envision ways to build relationships and make a better community for everyone.”

-Bernie Zipprich, NYC

Event Agenda

Unlike typical “town halls” that focus on elected leaders, this event invites you to engage with others. You will discover shared values that will form the basis of lasting connections with new allies.

Join group discussions with those who share your values to discover opportunities to be more deeply engaged. We also invite you to translate your individual convictions into collective commitment to take action in both big and small ways to create change. Our aspiration: active citizenship for everyone.

Conversations are just the start. When we find others who share our conviction for the future, we can commit to take meaningful future action. We inspire you to make actionable commitments to how you will personally lead change in your communities. By voicing our commitments aloud, we create a container of accountability to inspire sustained engagement.

Purpose Power is led by Alicia Bonner Ness, the author of the new book Purpose Power: How Mission-Driven Leaders Engage for Change. She works to engage communities directly in re-imagining the future of politics in Brooklyn and beyond. Alicia believes that to change our current reality, we can’t fight against the current system. We have to create a new model that makes the existing obsolete.

RSVP by May 8.

Doors open at 1 p.m. Event begins at 1:30 p.m. sharp.

Come for the cookies, stay for the conversation! Refreshments will be provided.

About the Serve America Movement

SAM is creating the new political party for the millions of Americans who are tired of choosing between the lesser of two evils. The organization is made up of people who’ve been betrayed by their tribes and are brave enough to build something better.

America’s a diverse place where people don’t always agree on everything. Neither do SAM members. But they share a set of universal principles and one ultimate goal: to fix a system that has been corrupted by the mainstream parties and the people who prop them up. Learn more here.
