Come hear acclaimed author Sandra Cisneros read from her body of work upon her special visit to Tucson this fall.

Sandra Cisneros is a poet, short story writer, novelist and essayist, whose latest work is the bilingual chapbook Puro Amor, featuring her own illustrations. Her classic, coming-of-age novel, The House on Mango Street, has sold over six million copies. Her numerous awards include NEA fellowships in both poetry and fiction, the Texas Medal of the Arts, a MacArthur Fellowship. Cisneros is the 2019 recipient of the prestigious PEN/Nabokov Award for Achievement in International Literature.

This event is presented by the UA Poetry Center and sponsored by Arizona Humanities with additional support from Bookmans Entertainment Exchange and Chicanos Por La Causa.

FAQs

Do I need a ticket to attend the event?

Yes. All attendees (including UA students, faculty and staff) will need to present an Eventbrite ticket upon arrival to the event. Seating is based on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Those who arrive without a ticket will be directed to a stand-by line and will be seated, according to availability, starting at 6:50 p.m.

What time do the doors open?

The doors to the Grand Ballroom will open at 6:30 p.m.

What is the format of the talk?

Ms. Cisneros will speak and read from her work for about 45 minutes followed by a 15-minute Q & A session.

Will books be available for purchase at the event?

Puro Amor, The House on Mango Street, and other Cisneros books will be available for purchase prior to and following her talk. A book signing will take place after the presentation.
