About this Event
Pure Michigan Strength Challenge:
Event 1. Rising bar max Axle DLBar
- Bar starts at 135lbs
- Will increase by alternating 25’s and 45’s (simple bar math)
- 3 attempts to find max
- You can skip lifts but if you fail you’re done
- 30 sec to make lift
- Third attempt only - multiple reps will be the tie breaker
Event 2. Log clean and press for reps (60 sec)
- Pick your log (heavy/light)
- Clean each rep
- Standard lockout required: hips, knees, and elbows fully extended, must demonstrate control and feet must be inline within shoulder width.
- 1 rep on the heavy log is worth more than all the reps on the light log
- If you choose the light log you CAN NOT move to the heavy log
- If you choose the heavy log you must receive 1 good rep in order to drop to light log for a tie breaker.
- Knee/elbow sleeves, Belts and Strongman Corp grip shirts allowed, no adjustable elbow sleeves or any sticky substance

Event 3. Tug of war (60 sec)
Every person in each weight class will face off against each other the score is total number of wins.
- In the event of a points tie the win will go to whoever won the match between the tie
- Must pull the other person past a certain point
- No anchoring the rope around your body
- Letting go of the rope is an immediate lose and a one point penalty.
- Falling is an immediate lose
- If clock hits zero winner will be whoever moved the other furthest, if there has been no movement there will not be any points given.
Event 4. 50’ Death medley (60 sec)

- carry each implement 50’ sprint back to the starting line to grab the next item to carry.
- No straps, no suits, no tacky or spray tack however belts, Strongman Corp grip shirts and chalk are allowed

Event 5 Max brick lift (this is for a state record)
Pick stack of bricks up from a table, standing up completely while demonstrating control of the bricks, wait for a down command then place bricks back on the table under control.
- forearms/hands can be used to lift the bricks
- Bricks can be supported on your power belly
- No deadlift suits, no tacky, no spray tacky
- Chalk, clean gauntlets or forearm tape is allowed
* The top athlete (1st Place finisher) in each open weight class or division that is offered at the competition will receive a qualification letter to the SC National Championships.
* Each weight class offered in any division shall have a minimum of 5 competitors competing. If there are less than 5 competitors in a weight class then it shall be combined with another appropriate weight class to ensure a National qualifying spot.
* Competition events and weights are at the discretion of the promoter.
